In the Netherlands, a new Center for AnimalHuman Studies (Centrum voor DierMens Studies) has just been founded.
AnimalHuman Studies is a fast growing interdisciplinary field which researches the complex relationship between animals and between humans and other animals. What place do other animals have in the cultural and social world of humans? In what ways do people communicate with animals and vice verse? In AnimalHuman Studies many different disciplines work together: socials sciences (sociology, anthropology, psychology, political science, geography), humanities (history, linguistics, literature studies, media studies, philosophy), natural sciences (ethology, animal sciences, animal welfare studies, comparative psychology).
The Center for AnimalHuman Studies in the Netherlands is a platform for researchers, teachers, students and others in the Netherlands who focus on the relationship between humans and other animals. The Center for AnimalHuman Studies is intended as a platform to exchange and provide knowledge on Animal humans studies.
