New publication: Environmental History and Water Management

Drought, flooding. Water is the main environmental problem of the near future, already the cause of wars. How did we deal with water in the past?

This summer, the results of a large research project into the history of water were published in a special issue of the journal Environment and History. Our board member Petra van Dam was involved in the set up and coordination of papers and books.

On  6 September, in Utrecht, the PhD student in the project, Heleen Kole, will defend her thesis ‘Inspraak of doorbraak? Participatie in het bestuur van twee waterschappen voor 1800: Bunschoten en Mastenbroek.’ For more information on the defense ceremony, see the Utrecht University website.
